Current RotationsSUBJECT: MEDICAL RESIDENT ONTARIO -- Dr. Spokas in Ontario with
have the benefit of first-year medical resident Abbas
Hyderi, January 17 through February 10. Addas was born in
Hyderabad, India into a large family of seven children.
They left India in search of educational opportunity in
America. He graduated from Harvard University with a B.A.
in biological anthropology. Then he attended medical
school at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He chose
family practice for its strong commitment to holistic
patient care and advocacy, his clinical interests in HIV,
pediatrics and adolescent health. He was strongly
impressed with the OHSU combined FM/PM program. In his
spare time, Abbas enjoys volleyball, tennis, dancing,
listening to hip/hop and high energy music and eclectic
dining. Northeast Oregon Area Health Education Center
(NEOAHEC) and Oregon Health & Science University
(OHSU) coordinate the rotations. The program is designed
to place medical residents and students in rural
communities.NEOAHEC is a nonprofit organization dedicated
to attracting and retaining health care professionals by
providing regional educational opportunities in the local
ten county region. ONTARIO -- Matthew Malan is the
latest Oregon Health & Science University medical
student on rotation spending five weeks with Dr. John
Schaefer at Valley Family Health Care in Payette. When
asked what he would like to experience during his
rotation, Matthew said, " I would like to improve my
suturing technique and increase my familiarization with
billing codes." Matthew currently lives in Portland.
Outside of medicine, Matthew enjoys snowboarding,
fishing, backpacking, surfing, soccer, volleyball,
softball and baseball. Matthew will be at Valley Family
Health care from January 2 through February 8 so if you
happen by, be sure to say hi and make Matthew feel
welcome during his stay in Malheur County. The rotations
are coordinated by Northeast Oregon Area Health Education
Center (NEOAHEC) and Oregon Health & Science
University (OHSU). The program is designed to place
