Carol Martin, a retired teacher, joined the NEOAHEC board in December, 2010. Because she
firmly believes in the positive power of education, AHEC was a good fit for her. As an educator, she saw the need for career training within the educational system.

Newly retired, Carol was looking for something purposeful to do with her time and wanted to
support a cause that she believed in. When first approached with the NEOAHEC board opportunity, she asked the same question many people ask, “What is NEOAHEC?” After checking out their website and meeting with board chair Kathleen Negus, Executive Director, Amy Dunkak and Education Coordinator, Brenna Dunlap, Carol clearly understood NEOAHEC’s mission and the impact the organization had on her community of Baker County. She was impressed that the participants of AHEC programs elected to achieve degrees in health related fields. She is excited about NEOAHEC’s work to provide students with an opportunity to explore health-care careers through practical “hands on” experience.
