China 2007
In March of 2007, the EOU Chamber Choir will be going to China for a concert tour.
Thanks to the hard work of the student choir members and the generous support of alumni, parents and community members the choir has toured regularly over the last ten years. Past tours have included venues in the northwest, eastern Europe and two trips to Ecuador. International travel is always a large undertaking by the choir, but also one of the most valuable experiences a student can have while in college.

Our Trip to China
The EOU Chamber Choir will be departing from Portland on March 21st, 2007 and will arrive back in Portland April 3rd, 2007. Within those two weeks we will embrace, experience and appreciate the exciting adventure of being within a completely new culture, let alone a new country.
Our first city that we will discover is Shanghai, in which we get to enjoy the city tour. We will visit the historic Bund and Nanjin St., the classically styled Yu Gardens, the Shanghai Museum, along with embarking on a cruise along the Huang Pu River for fabulous nighttime view of Shanghai, and much more.
Our next city to enjoy is Lijiang where we will enjoy a performance of Naxi music and dance at the Naxi Music Academy, visit the Basha Village to view the Basha Murals, along with exploring the charming Old Town area of Lijiang.
Next we arrive to Guilin to enjoy the tram up Yao Mountain, depart on a boat cruise along the Li River to view the amazing Karst formations in the area, exchange music with a local music group.
We soon arrive to Yangshuo to see this famous backpacker’s town, then go back to Guilin.
The next adventure is in Beijing. We will have the opportunity to enjoy a tour of the Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, the Capitol Museum, and we will get go sing on The Great Wall of China on the last day of our adventure!!!
During the entire trip of observing this amazing culture, we will have the opportunity to meet with many local musicians to exchange music, share our culture, and listen to their culture. There are so many things that we will see, hear, feel, touch, and encounter throughout this entire tour that we will be going on.
Our choir will arrive in Portland on the 3rd of April, after two weeks of exploring a completely different country on the other side of the world.
