How to use the Math Lab Tutors
The Math Lab is located in the Learning Center in Loso Hall, RM 234. Walk-in help is available from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM Monday through Thursday, and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Sunday through Thursday.
The tutors in the Math Lab are undergraduates like yourself who strive to guide the learning of the students they work with. Whether it is a one-on-one interaction or a collaborative situation with a group of students, they will do their best to give you the math and study strategies that will help you to succeed in your current and future math classes at EOU.
We want to encourage you to work as wisely as possible with our math tutors. It can become very easy to get over-dependent on their assistance and get a false impression of how much you are really learning. Do as much work as you can on your own and collaborate with your classmates in the lab before seeking the assistance of a tutor. More often than not, our tutors are successful not because of the questions they answer for you but the questions they ask of you to get you on the right track.
How can I become a Math Tutor?
We rely on our math faculty to recommend students they recognize as having the necessary abilities to become a good math tutor. If you have completed at least Math 113 or Math 241, let your professors know you are interested in working in the Math Lab.
