PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

Dr. Davenport (Ph.D. Reading Education, University of Missouri-Columbia) taught in K-6 classrooms for over 10 years, and has 13 years experience in teacher education. Currently, she is a Professor of Education, Cohort Leader for the CUESTE Undergraduate Teacher Preparation Program, and an instructor of online courses in literacy for the Master of Science Program. Her research interests include reading assessment and miscue analysis, and publications include the book Miscues, not Mistakes: Reading assessment in the classroom (2002), in addition to articles in Language Arts and Reading Teacher.

In addition to serving as the lead professor in the undergraduate teacher education program, Dr. Davenport teaches undergraduate courses in assessment, classroom dynamics, and the learning cycle.
