Germania Club
Germania is open to anyone with an interest in German culture and provides students cultural opportunities on and off campus. Its mission is to provide scholarship support for study abroad in EOU programs and at the Deutsche Sommerschule am Pazifik. (Contact: Leanna Stickel for more Information of activities)

En Compañía
This student organization of the bilingual and Spanish programs is open to anyone with an interest in Hispanic culture. Activities include celebrations of ethnic traditions and holidays, among other extra-curricular cultural explorations.

Sigma Delta Pi
Sigma Delta Pi is the National Spanish Honor Society, founded at the University of California at Berkeley in 1919. Chpaters of this society have been established at institutions all over the world, including Spain, Latin America and the United States. In 1994, the president of the society granted Eastern Oregon University's own chapter, named Tau Sigma.

What is it for? The purpose of this society is to honor students who seek and attain excellence in the study of Hispanic culture, literature and language. It also serves to encourage students to acquire a greater understanding of and deeper appreciation for Hispanic culture.

How can you be inducted? The ideal student will have gone beyond the minimum academic requirements in their area of specialization (i.e. Spanish or Bilingual Education), have a genuine interest in Hispanic culture and language and be of good moral character.

Other requirements
include:

  • A minimum "B" average in your Spanish classes, with no grade lower than a "B"
  • A minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 2.75
  • At least 5 quarters of college enrollment completed
  • Completion of at least two quarters of upper-division work in Hispanic literature or culture

Demonstrated ongoing interest or involvement in the Spanish program, i.e. continuous enrollment in Spanish classes, tutoring, activity in En Compañía, practicum work or other forms of campus or community outreach. Students who have participated in study abroad programs are particularly encouraged to apply.

Festival of Languages and Cultures
A week-long celebration of cultural events, the Festival of Languages and Cultures brings together students, members of the community, speakers, singer, dancers, and culminates in a full day of films, and an international dinner with a program of student performances.
