EOU-specific limitations on mail lists:
Some limitations apply to Majordomo mail lists at EOU:
- In response to incidents of spamming/abuse, lists of all
mailing lists are not available.
- In response to incidents of spamming/abuse, only the
owner of a list can generate a listing of its members.
Use the passworded form of the "who" command:    approve password who list-name
- Attachments in proprietary formats should be avoided
when plain text suffices. Because the total size limit
on a Majordomo message is 40K by default, only very small
attachments will get through. To distribute large materials,
put together your own list in your client's addressbook,
or, better yet, place
the material on a web site for distribution (and send
the link to the mail list if desired).
- The following attachment types are deemed dangerous by
Microsoft and are blocked by EOU:
"ade", "adp", "bas", "bat", "chm", "cmd", "com",
"cpl", "crt", "exe", "hlp", "hta", "inf", "ins", "isp", "js", "jse",
"lnk", "mdb", "mde", "msc", "msi", "msp", "mst", "pcd", "pif", "reg",
"scr", "sct", "shs", "shb", "url", "vb", "vbe", "vbs", "wsc", "wsf",
"wsh"
We also block "zip" and "rar" files to prevent virus
propagation.
See http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q262/6/17.ASP
This applies to all mail to eou.edu, not just Majordomo. You can
send such attachments by changing the file type to something
unrecognized, like "zzz".
