COMPUTER LABS - Manual

Job Description

As a lab aide there are certain expectations that you are required to meet. 

The main concern is that while covering the computer lab, all students should be adequately assisted with any questions or concerns they may have.  Keep in mind that you are not only an employee of the IT Department, but more importantly an employee of the EOU student body.  As students, our fees help in supplying our wages. If our peers are not happy our jobs are in jeopardy.

EXPECTATIONS: The following expectations will help all lab aides to meet and exceed current goals and objectives.

                           

* Know your schedule.

* Be on time—Arrive 5 minutes early and leave no earlier than 10 minutes beforel the hour only to attend a class.

* Check cc-students email correspondence at least once daily.  Check that computers and printers are working at the start of your shift.  Call x23111 for immediate needs and send email to cc-students for later repair.

* Check student I.D. for current sticker every time someone enters the lab.

* Keep areas in and around lab desk and computers clean.

* No Food or Drink in the Labs!

* No tobacco in the labs!

* Do homework and work on computer only when students are not in need of assistance.

* Allow at least 48 hours notice to obtain coverage for a shift you are unable to cover.  Send email to cc-students for coverage– DO NOT SIMPLY TRADE  SHIFTS—.  (Emergencies notify the IT Department directly.)

*No cell phones used in labs, go to designated areas only.

* Shut off lights and double check doors locked at closing.  Leave Computers and printers ON!

* ASK QUESTIONS! -  computers, programs, printers, schedules

* Sign and accurately complete your timesheets in the IT Departmentr  (IH108) by  noon on the 14th of every month.  If this is not done you will not  be paid for the current month until the next pay period!

* Communicate effectively with other lab aides.
