Achievements: 2011
The following items have been identified as achievements for the department in the past year:
- Completed campus-wide transition to Google Apps for all EOU campus Email
- Conducted training classes for Google Apps including Email, Chat, Calendar, Documents and Sites
- EOU Listserv was replaced with Google Groups
- Completed Ad Astra setup as EOU main scheduler for classrooms and meeting rooms across campus
- Migrated off of Fastbooks scheduler to Ad Astra
- Completed Pierce and Zabel Staff/Faculty moves to temporary locations.
- Setup new network in the Ackerman Library area and Temporary Library in Quinn Gym for library staff
- All Smart Classroom PC’s were upgraded with Microsoft Office 2010
- The Ackerman 011, Inlow 011, Inlow 013 and Loso 234 labs were upgraded to Microsoft Windows 7 and Office 2010
- The Loso Music Lab was upgraded to 21.5″ iMacs
- The IT department tested and implemented a new model of Voice over IP phone, the Avaya 1616 and was placed for the entire Pierce Library and Zabel hall staff and faculty and will follow them when they return to their buildings in 2012 once the remodels are completed
- Upgraded Inlow 011 to create a new computer lab (replacing Pierce student general purpose lab)
- Added new desk mics and mixer in Inlow 013 for better sound
- Added new flatscreen LCD displays in Inlow 013
- Upgraded cabling for future display and presentation equipment in IH 013
- Replaced two aging IP codecs with newer, better models
- Began research and testing for new online platforms beyond Elluminate (now BB Collaborate)
- Cut IP video costs for MBA program by $2k per term by arranging new Hermiston site
- Began using new software to allow students to participate in IP video classes from home
- Expanded IP video capabilities to more rooms in Inlow
- Began plan to upgrade ISB classrooms to Smart Classrooms and improve usability
- Helped plan and move OHSU Nursing Debrief room/IP video conference room to accommodate remodel changes
