INTRAMURAL BASKETBALL
RULES
3 on 3 Rules and Information
- Must be in the Pro League if you have one or more (current or alumni) EOU basketball playerson your roster
- Each game is played in a half court setting
- Round Robin format to seed for tournament
- We advise you to only be on one roster (we will not schedule around multiple team conflicts)
- Paperwork is due by May 15th (roster and participation forms must be completely filled out)
- Games will start May 17th (7:30-10:15pm)
A.
- Any incomplete forms and/or
teams will not be allowed to participate....there are NO
EXCEPTIONS
- Only current EOU students and faculty members
are allowed to participate in IM basketball.
- Current student and faculty ID's are to be
shown and roster to be signed prior to every game. No
ID = No Play (no exceptions).
I. Starting
the Game
- Spectators
are to sit in the balconies or stand along the wall- out of the way of the
players.
- Teams must
have the same color of shirts and different colored than their opponents.
It is recommended that each player bring two colors of shirts with them. If
a team fails to do so, they will be issued pennies.
- Ten minutes
will be allowed for teams to present themselves on the appropriate court before
a forfeit will be declared.
- A minimum
of three players, by each team, are needed to participate
in a game. For co-ed teams, there needs to be at least one female on
the court when only three players are present to play.
- The game
will begin with a jump ball between any two players, one from each team, with
possession alternating between each team in all jump ball situations after
the opening jump.
II. Timing Regulations
- The game
shall consist of two twenty minute halves.
- The clock
will run continuously until the last two minutes of the second half when it
will stop for all fouls, violations and timeouts.
- Half-time
will be five minutes.
- Each team
is permitted two timeouts per game, each one minute in length.
- Clock will stop on time outs.
III. Overtime
- If the score
is tied at the end of regulation play, a three minute overtime period will
be played.
- The clock
will run continuously until the last minute of the period when it will stop
for all fouls, violations and timeouts.
- Each team
is allowed one timeout, one minute in length. Timeouts not used during regulation
play cannot be used during overtime.
- If a second
overtime is necessary, the team scoring first shall be declared the winner.
IV. Fouls and Penalties
- Any player
charged with a fifth personal foul shall be disqualified
from the rest of the game.
- Upon being
charged with a seventh team foul, the opposing team will shoot the one- and-one
bonus free throw. The tenth team foul will result in two free throw opportunities.
- Two free
throws will be attempted for intentional, technical, and flagrant fouls. The
offended team will get possession of the ball after the free throws have been
attempted.
- One technical
foul will result in banishment from the game, a total of two at anytime will
result in banishment for the season.
- Fighting
will NOT be tolerated. Any violence will result in banishment
from Intramural Activities for a year, and the violator will be subject to
the Student Disciplinary Code of Conduct.
- No back
court violations.
- Participants
without clean gym shoes will be asked to leave or clean them thoroughly before
playing.
- The Intramural
Department recognizes no protest on referees' judgement calls. All other protests
must be in writing and submitted within twenty-four hours to the IM office
after the game in question.
- Any inappropriate
comments to the officials or IM staff members may result in dismissal from
the game and only upon inquiry from the IM staff will they be allowed to play
in further contests.
- Red-shirts
are allowed to play as long as they are not playing/practicing with the Eastern
Basketball team.
- Only one
red-shirt will be allowed to play on one team.
- EOU faculty and staff can participate in intramural
basketball (there is an activity fee that must be paid at the account office).
- *Teams can only have TWO faculty and/or
staff members per team. Teams made entirely of faculty/staff members must
play in the Pro League.
- Dunking
is allowed.
- Only current
EOU students and EOU faculty members are allowed to participate in IM basketball.
- Co-Ed games you must have atleast 2 girls on the court at all times.
