Assistant Director for Student Leadership

Position Description:  Eastern Oregon University invites applications for the position of Assistant Director for Student Leadership. Located in the northeast corner of Oregon, EOU is a public arts university with an approximate undergraduate enrollment of 3,000. The Assistant Director for Student Leadership at Eastern Oregon University includes responsibilities for selecting, supervising, and evaluating student staff, overseeing the residence life program in two buildings of 270 residents, overseeing the operations of the Student Activities Office including supervising one classified staff, and assisting with the creation and administration of a comprehensive student leadership program at EOU. The Assistant Director serves as a member of the Student Affairs Division of the University and must be able to communicate the mission, goals, and objectives of the Department to internal and external groups.  This position requires flexible hours including evenings and weekends. The position reports to the Director of Housing and Residence Life.

The Assistant Director for Student Leadership is a 12-month, fixed-term, Administrative Faculty position.  Salary will be $28,000 to $30,000 commensurate with education and experience with excellent medical, retirement and professional development benefits. Compensation includes a furnished apartment and meal plan when board dining services are in operation.  Anticipated start date is July 1, 2007.

Qualifications:   A Master’s Degree is required. In lieu of a Master’s Degree, a Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of full-time, professional experience in Student Affairs may be substituted. Preference will go to candidates with degrees in College Student Personnel or related fields and to those with experience in housing or group living environments.
