Meeting Minutes
3/17/03
1. Chart audit forms were given to Nancy. In order to “fix” the problems
noted,
staff need the following: chart clips, 3 rolls of allergy tape, and
a place
to store the closed charts. Nancy will
talk with Lee about the
first
items; Selina & Michelle offered a drawer in their office file
cabinet
for storing the closed records.
Everyone should bring closed
records
to Nancy & she’ll put them in Selina & Michelle’s office.
2. We reviewed plans for the health fairs. Cove’s fair is this Wednesday
&
everything is in place. For the Imbler
& No Powder fairs, the following
activities
are confirmed: ODOT (pedestrian safety, wheel of fortune),
sheriff’s
office for fingerprinting (this will happen from 8-11:30 in
Powder
& 12:30-3:30 in Imbler – the younger grades will need to be
scheduled
to be at the fair then), sun safety by Vicki & Sue, rehab therapy
from
GRH will do backpack safety, and No Powder will have something about
fire
safety.
The following activities still need
some work:
- fire safety or EMT demo in Imbler –
Diane will work on this
- crash dummies – Sue will check with
ODOT
- Selina & Michelle - will plan
some type of health exhibit (maybe
an
anatomy quiz)
- Patrice will develop something
related to mental health for the
Imbler
fair
Aylee
asked for help in working with the North Powder students to develop
their
exhibits or activities for their fair.
Melissa offered to help.
3. Nancy has asked that all staff invite at
least 3 teachers and/or
parents
to write letters of support directed to the county commissioners &
to the
hospital administrator & board chair.
This information was
contained
in a previous email. Sue is working
with the Imbler 4-H who are
going
to recruit letters from their community.
Nancy feels that this is a
good
idea in Imbler, but that we should not use same approach in all of the
other
communities. She urged all staff to ask
people if they’d be willing
to
write a personal letter. In the past,
the letter-writing campaigns have
made
the difference between the HNRS receiving funding & not receiving
funding.
Some staff expressed discomfort at
asking parents to write a
letters. There was some discussion about this. (As I’ve thought about
this
more, I truly do understand how this might feel awkward ... yet many
people
would be extremely willing to write a letter if they knew that our
funding
was in danger of being eliminated.)
Those who felt uncomfortable
about
talking to parents did say that they’d be willing to talk with
teachers. Nancy urged them to then talk to
teachers. For those who are
not
uncomfortable about talking with parents, Nancy asked that they do this
as
well. Parental voices might actually
carry more clout.
Everyone: Because budget
deliberations are beginning now, all
are
asked to talk to people this week.
Thank you!
4. Nancy shared concerns about communication
between HNRS team. Because
of the
growth of the HNRS and the fact that all are working in part-time
jobs,
opportunities for communication have been curtailed. Everyone
seemed
to agree that communication was not what it could be ... that we all
feel
pretty isolated in doing our jobs. Two
ideas that were mentioned as
possible
solutions were to have HNRS retreats, and also to have meetings
among
the staff that are assigned to the same schools. This discussion
will be
continued in future meetings.
5. The next HNRS meetings for the spring are:
April 16 from 8-9am and May
21 from
8-11. The May meeting will be at
Patrice’s home and we’ll bring
breakfast
snacks.
6.
Nancy, Selina & Michelle will meet on Monday, Mar 31 at 8am.
