Meeting Minutes


 

The meeting was opened at 8:00 a.m. with the following people present:

Agenda Items for Practitioners

  1. Monthly health education topics were reviewed. It was agreed that the number of topics need to be reduced. The revised health topics of the month are:

·          January

§          Lice Screening – Ginny & Michele coordinators

 

·          February

§          Cholesterol Screening - Vicki & Selina coordinators

§          Dental Screening – Michele coordinates and will keep Ginny informed

§          Newsletter – Nancy will talk to the Principals about putting information in the newsletters

·        Dental Hygiene – Michele

§          Dental Van – March 4-8, 2002 – Michele coordinator

Vickie will contact Dr. Erwin and Nina Jones about an Injury Prevention presentation.The assembly would include a talk by Dr. Erwin and presentation of “The Trauma Team Talks Tough”.Vicki will check on the possibility of taping the presentation.

 

  1. Vicki discussed the procedures for making referrals and use of updated forms. The forms and instructions were given to Lee for placement on the new HNRS website.

  2. Michele gave an update on the dental screening that will take place in February and March. Michele has arranged for local dentists and hygienists to screen students in Elgin, Union, Imbler, Cove and North Powder. Students will be rated 1, 2 or 3 at the screening, with students rating 3 being the most in need of dental care. Students who are rated 3 and qualify financially will be referred to the Northwest Medical Team. We are supplying the tongue blades and penlights for the screening. Michele will check with Darla (hygienist) about who qualifies for the Northwest Medical Team services and what permission they need for treatment.


Agenda Items after arrival of FRC Coordinators

  1. Ginny has been coordinating the “Talking About Touching” curriculum at the Imbler Schools. The program schedule is:

January 15, 2002 – 3:30-4:30 p.m. staff in-service coordinated by Dave

January 18, 2002 – 12:15 p.m. teacher training presented by Ginny
January 28, 2002 – 7:00-8:00 p.m. Parent’s night presented by Ginny


  1. Nancy discussed the procedure for submitting work to the School of Nursing administrative staff. Work for Lee should be sent to Nancy first. Joyce may be contacted directly for travel statements. Sandy should be contacted for questions about payroll. No work should be sent directly to Lory.

  2. Staff Calendars

    Lee will post staff calendars on the HNRS website (location to be announced soon) by the first of each month.Schedule changes for all staff should be given to Lee each month for posting by the 1st.

  3. Medicaid Administration

All Staff - Tuesday, January 15, 2002 was selected as the date for the quarterly time study.When the study has been completed, each person should keep a copy and give the original to Nancy.

Announcements and Open Discussion 

Laptop Computers

·            Aylee, Vicki, Ginny, Michele and Tempie need to deliver their laptop computers to Lee for cleanup as soon as possible.

Quarterly Reports

·            Andy Osborn has provided a new program for tracking statistics for the Quarterly Reports.Nancy and Lee will be testing the program for possible implementation next quarter.

·            Vicki – Get total flu shots for statistics and give them to Lee

·            Nurses need to track immunization totals only. They do not need to complete a service log on each individual student who received an immunization.They should only record the total number of immunizations given by type.

·            Aylee & Dave – Change statistics from count by age group to count by grade.CCF report will only require tallies for students in grades K-2.

·            AllPractitioners – Statistics for quarterly reports are due in to Lee by January 7, 2002.

HNRS Booth at Union County Fair

·            Dave suggested that we have a booth at the fair to education the public about services we provide.Vicki will contact Kathy Weber to discuss the possibility of sharing a booth with Grande Ronde Hospital.

Computer for Stella Mayfield School

·            A computer has been purchased with grant money from the Northwest Health Foundation.Lee will install it at Stella Mayfield School in Elgin.

 

Taping Clinic

·            Tempie announced that there will be a taping clinic in Imbler January 9, 2002.The training will be presented by staff from the Athletic Department at EOU and is for Imbler coaches.Tempie is coordinating.

Medical Records

·            Nancy stated that some of the schools are not in compliance for storing medical records.Nancy will attend a presentation by Melinda Wittemore to find out exactly what the policies should be for storing records and sharing access with FRC staff. 

Lunch Buddies Background Checks

·            Aylee asked if older children who participate in the Lunch Buddy program should have a background check.Kathy will contact Libby Goben to find out whether a background check is required and if so, who will pay the fees.
