Requirements for the History Major

 

A. Lower Division Requirements

15 credits (3 classes) chosen from the following U.S. History and World Civilization survey courses:

  • HIST 111: World Civilizations to 1500
  • HIST 112: World Civilizations since 1500
  • HIST 201: U.S. History to 1865
  • HIST 202: U.S. History since 1865

 

B. Upper Division Requirements

10 credits in each of three categories* (for 30 credits total):

  • CATEGORY 1: U.S. History
  • CATEGORY 2: European and World History
  • CATEGORY 3: Western, Comparative, and Thematic History

*Consult with History faculty to determine which courses fit into which category.

 

 

C. History Core Courses (15 credits total)

 

  • HIST 203: Historical Methods
  • HIST 303: Historical Research
  • HIST 403: History Capstone
