Online Options for Completing the Institute Courses

Eastern Oregon University’s special strength in conferring the FSA degree is its assurance that the degree may be taken entirely at a distance.  EOU is able to do this by providing two of the required institute courses and by working with Western Oregon University, which provides five basic institute equivalents through distance education.

FSA 307 and 309 are available through EOU at a distance, covering basic institute requirements not provided through WOU’s Degrees at a Distance Program.  In addition, FSA 421 is offered through EOU at a distance, making it possible for EOU’S FSA degree-seeking students to complete their Capstone at a distance.

Western Oregon University offers the National Fire Academy’s Degrees at a Distance Program (DDP).  DDP provides distance education courses that may substitute for specific third-year “institute” courses usually offered in a classroom format.  The table following the next paragraph details the authorized substitutions.
