English Studies Minor
The English Studies minor provides a basic understanding of the English language and literature. When combining this minor with a major, or with another minor, please contact a faculty member in English and Writing and see the Advising page for information that will help you choose elective classes.
Prerequisites (not counted toward 30-credit minimum)
- English 1XX: Any 100-level literature (4)
- Writing 121: Expository Writing (4)

- English 371: British Literature Before 1800 (4)
- English 372: British Literature After 1800 (4)
- English 381: American Literature Before 1865 (4) (4)

Electives
Minimum of 15 elective credits of English and Writing
- Minimum of 7 hours of upper division
- Minimum of 9 hours must be from ENG
- Minimum of half of which must be courses of at least three credits
A minimum of 30 graded credits in English/Writing is required, with a minimum of 15 upper-division. A minimum of 10 credits applied to the minor must be taken at Eastern Oregon University. A minimum of “C-” or better is required in each course counting toward the minor, but a cumulative grade of “C” (2.00) is required for completion of the minor. Should this minor be combined with another English/Writing minor as part of a Liberal Studies degree, no more than one course should overlap with the other minor. Please note: Pre-requisites may not be taken as co-requisites.
