Eastern Oregon University is a member of the Oregon University System
Students may request assistance from the Education Student Crisis Scholarship Fund for emergency situations during their final year of teacher preparation. The request is initiated through the Financial Aid office and may be in any amount up to $500. Reasons for requesting funds include, but are not limited to, transportation, food, lodging, medical and babysitting needs. Testing and licensure fees may also be considered. Students must provide a rationale for their need and the need must be putting them in a "crisis" situation.
Each year, Eastern Oregon University offers up to 10 four year undergraduate scholarships to students interested in pursuing a Bachelors degree and a high school teaching credential in Mathematics. MESA recipients receive $2,000 to 4,000 per year to support their undergraduate degree work at EOU. Graduates of the MESA program then go on to enroll in the Masters of Arts teaching program at EOU. To be eligible for the MESA scholarship, students must commit to majoring in math, have a 3.25 GPA from at their previous school (e.g., high school or community college), complete the scholarship application, provide recommendations from their former math teachers, and write an essay about why they want to become a math teacher in Eastern Oregon. For first consideration for 2012/13 school year scholarship, MESA applications must be received by the College of Education by April 15th 2012. Scholarship applications are available through the College of Education and the EOU Admissions office. For more information on this scholarship opportunity, please check out our brochure and contact John Knudson-Martin at jknudson@eou.edu.
