Criteria for becoming an Elementary Teacher:

The following are coursework requirements for admission into the Elementary MTE Program:

  • Science: 12 credit hours (quarter)
  • Social Science: US History or Geography
  • Math: Math 211, Math 212, and Math 213, or equivalent
  • Language Arts: one Language Arts and two writing courses with one being 200 level or higher
  • Art: Art Fundamentals or experience
  • Music: Music Fundamentals or experience

Steps to Becoming an Elementary Teacher:

 

Step 1: Complete MTE Elementary application. Application available at:

Step 2: Send in application, including all unofficial transcripts. Send to:

Step 3: Enroll and take the ORELA, test #001 and #002

Step 4: Enroll and take the CBEST or Praxis I (PPST)

Step 5: Complete 30 hour experience in a public school instructional setting

Step 6: Complete EOU Application for Graduate Admission. Application available at:
