Criteria for Becoming a Foreign Language Teacher:       

                                                    

In order to teach one of the foreign languages (either German or Spanish) at the middle and high school levels, the teacher candidate must have preparation of at least a minor, but it is recommended that the preparation approaches that of a major.

Teacher candidates must provide evidence of meeting the intermediate-high proficiency level.

Steps to MAT admission for becoming a Foreign Language Teacher:

 

Step 1: Complete MAT Secondary application.

Step 2: Send in application, including all unofficial transcripts. Send to:

Step 3: Enroll for and pass the EAS or CBEST or Praxis I (PPST), and content area test

Step 4: Complete a 30 hour experience in a public school instructional setting

Step 5: Complete EOU Application for Graduate Admission. Application available at:
