Criteria for becoming an Elementary Teacher:

The following are coursework requirements for admission into the Elementary MAT Program:

• Science: 12 credit hours (quarter)
• Social Science: US History or Geography
• Math: Math 211, Math 212, and Math 213, or equivalent
• Language Arts: one Literature and two Writing courses
• Art: Art Fundamentals or experience
• Music: Music Fundamentals or experience

Steps to MAT admission for becoming an Elementary Teacher:

Step 1: Complete MAT Elementary application.

Step 2: Send in application, including all unofficial transcripts. Send to:

Step 3: Enroll for and pass the EAS or CBEST or Praxis I (PPST), and the ORELA-MSE, subtests #1 and #2.

Step 4: Complete 30 hour experience in a public school instructional setting
