To help you understand EOU's registration procedures, and technology, we offer the following information:

Webster

At EOU registration is handled through Webster. Webster  is an online account that will contain your student information, both academic and financial. If you are not seeking a degree from Eastern and would like to attend classes, you may print out the new student mail-in form  or you may submit the web form. You will receive an email indicating when your form has been processed. You may then login to your Webster account.  If you have problems, or questions, concerning Webster, please contact DDE.

After logging in to Webster, you will need to register for classes.  Once you have a Webster account, the process is generally straightforward. The most frequent mistake is entering an incorrect CRN number when registering. Please be sure to check all CRN's before completing registration.

To locate the CRN for each class, you must complete the following steps:

1. Go to: http://www.ous.edu/webster

2. Select "Distance Education" from the left side panel

3. Click on "Courses" from the header, and select "Distance Education Courses and Syllabi"

4. Under "Review all Courses/Syllabi for: ", select the appropriate term

At this time, EOU does not allow students with addresses outside the 50 US states to register for courses.

E-Mail

Once you are registered for classes, you will be assigned a student e-mail from EOU. This is the e-mail that the University and your instructors will use to contact you. Your username and password will be posted on your Webster account. This can take up to 48 hours after registration so keep checking back. For other e-mail questions or concerns, please see the Information Technology Help Desk . All the classes for the reading endorsement rely heavily on e-mail for communication. EOU e-mail is also where all information will be sent. This is the e-mail you should use to contact your instructors prior to the start of the term.

Syllabi

A tentative course syllabus for all courses is available online and can be downloaded prior to the start of the term. Please download your syllabus and contact your instructor prior to the start of the term. Remember that the official syllabus with all course requirements will be posted in the online course. EOU does not contact students nor send out syllabi prior to the start of the term.

Textbooks

All textbooks are available at the EOU Bookstore. Please give yourself ample time, before starting the course, to order textbooks and to allow for transit time.

Blackboard

Blackboard — All the reading endorsement courses use Blackboard as a distance "classroom." You will receive an e-mail to your EOU e-mail informing you when you will be able to login and participate. Blackboard is quite intuitive to use, but if it is your first time using blackboard, instructions are available.  It is also good idea to go to the Blackboard course when it becomes available and, "poke about" to see all the resources and course expectations.

Advising

For advising about the ReadOregon program or related to a Reading Endorsement, please contact Kristin Johnson by email or by calling 541-962-3529.

Please Note: It is your responsibility to contact your instructors prior to the start of classes.
Please do not wait to introduce yourself.

If you cannot download the form, alternative directions are provided on the http://www.eou.edu/regis/transcripts.html webpage

All requests must be made in writing and include your signature and payment.

Unofficial transcripts require the same information as official transcripts but are available at no charge.

Requesting EOU to recommend a reading endorsement

1. Official transcripts of all coursework that is part of the reading endorsement course of study must be sent to the Literacy Coordinator, Kristin Johnson at the College of Education, Eastern Oregon University, One University Blvd., La Grande, OR 97850. An EOU transcript will be obtained by the Literacy Advisor at no charge to you.

2. Contact Kristin Johnson via email (kristin.johnson@eou.edu) to notify her that you believe you are ready to add the endorsement to your license.  This means you have finished the coursework and have a passing score on the PRAXIS Reading Specialist.  Tell her all the universities from which she should expect transcripts.  Also tell her which authorizations you are expecting.  Be sure she has your current, preferred email address.

3. Be sure that EOU has your PRAXIS score report.  If you had it sent to EOU when you took the test, let us know that and we will find the record.  If it wasn’t sent to EOU, please fax a copy to 541-962-3701, Attention: Kristin.

 4. When she receives all your transcripts and PRAXIS score report, she will fill out a program completion form and forward it to the EOU licensure officer.

5. The licensure officer will check the information and fill out the C-2 requesting your endorsement.  The C-2 will be submitted electronically to TSPC. The licensure officer will email you confirming the C-2 submission and provide information about the steps you need to take to complete the process.

6. The rest is up to you!  Congratulations for reaching this goal in your teaching career.
