This Course of Study (equal to a year of preparation) is designed for those seeking an endorsement in English for Speakers of Other Languages. It may serve in place of a minor in the Multidisciplinary Studies degree but will NOT be transcripted as a minor. Candidates may add this endorsement to a license by completing the course of study, including 90 clock hours of practicum, and obtaining a passing score on Praxis II TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language).

An ESOL course of study is also available at the graduate level. These courses are all offered online. The purpose of the graduate ESOL course of study is to provide licensed teachers with additional preparation in order to work as ESOL teachers, ESOL specialists or ESOL coaches.

When a candidate has completed the course of study and has obtained a passing score on the appropriate PRAXIS test, the licensure officer at EOU will, at the candidate's request, make a recommendation to TSPC for an ESOL Endorsement to be added to the candidate's teaching license.
