College of Education
Dean Dan Mielke
Eastern Oregon University and especially the College of Education are dedicated to meeting the University’s commitment of serving rural eastern Oregon and beyond through professional programs that include high quality instruction, practical research, and meaningful service.
Our College includes opportunities for students to major in multidisciplinary studies and elementary education; physical activity and health; and liberal studies. At the graduate level we offer the Master of Arts in Teaching and the Master of Science degrees. The focus in the College is teacher preparation. In addition, our Physical Activity and Health program promotes healthy activity throughout the university and region.
The College faculty includes nationally and internationally recognized experts in their fields. They are committed to ensuring student learning and success. Each faculty member provides students opportunities to master contemporary theories and content; and participate in practical field experiences that enrich their lives and those they serve through these experiences.
The College offers its education programs at the main campus in La Grande and at regional sites located at Blue Mountain Community College (Pendleton); Mount Hood Community College (Gresham); Southwestern Oregon Community College (Coos Bay); and Treasure Valley Community College (Ontario). The Master of Science program and other graduate opportunities are available through online instruction.
As Dean, and speaking for the faculty and staff as well, we are proud of the programs within our college. We have exceptional students who when they leave our university are highly sought after to fill teaching positions, graduate school programs, and other career settings.
