Fire Services Administration - BA/BS

EOU offers the Fire Services Administration (FSA) degree program in a consortium agreement with Western Oregon University (WOU), Chemeketa Community College, Portland Community College, and in cooperation with other community colleges and academies. The FSA program is designed to serve practicing fire services professionals seeking administrative credentials for municipal/structural fire departments and agencies. Emergency services professionals whose fields are related to fire services (such as EMS) are also welcome, but must meet all municipal/ structural FSA requirements.

EOU and WOU do not provide lower division fire science courses. Instead, they alternate sponsorship for upper-division “institutes,” or core FSA courses, and “advanced” institutes, one of which serves as an EOU capstone for students in the FSA program. EOU’s FSA program provides all upper division course requirements in both face-to-face and distance delivery modes, and recognizes credit for prior learning at the lower division level and assessment for prior experiential learning at the upper division level.

The institutes are delivered through face-to-face settings and at a distance. Face-to-face classes primarily take place in Monmouth, Portland, western Washington, and eastern Oregon. Institutes provided at a distance are delivered through EOU web-based offerings and correspondence offerings through WOU.
