International Language and Culture Festival 2007

Please join us for these great workshops, presentations and performances featuring students, faculty and guests.

 

April 12 -19th, 5:00 to 7:00pm.  Martha Suarez Lopez will lead a Mexican Folkloric Dance Workshop each week day which will culminate in a presentation in on April 19th at 7:30pm.  Students may receive one S/U credit for taking this workshop.

April 16th, 7:30pm.  The Geology of Mexico presented by Martha Suarez Lopez in Huber Auditorium.  Free

April 17th,  7:30pm.  Mignarda Duo will present a setting of 16th century French lyric verse highlighting the poetry of Ronsard and Marot, and will trace the influence of Petrarch's Canzoniere in the courts and intellectual circles of 16th century France.  McKenzie Theatre $5.00 per person at the door.    

April 18th, 12:00 noon.  Mikki Goodall will lead a panel discussion on Study Abroad Programs in the Hoke main lounge.  Free

April 18th, 7:30pm.  FOUR RIVERS: Explore Latin American cross-currents of history and culture in a multinational montage of film clips titled “Four Rivers”. This selection includes: “Cabeza de Vaca” (Spanish with English subtitles, not rated); “Aguirre, Wrath of God” (German with English subtitles, not rated); “The Mission” (English, rated PG); “Motorcycle Diaries” (Spanish with English subtitles, rated R for language). This one-hour viewing will be followed by a half-hour open discussion, facilitated by Spanish instructor Neva L. Sanders. Loso 116. Free

April 19th, 2:00pm.  Regina Braker and her German 103 students will present a workshop on "The Art Dictionary for Language Learning".  This work shop will focus on developing a picture dictionary using details from art works.  Zabel 110 Free

April 19th, 3:00pm.  Gaby Ochoa will lead a conversation hour with songs and games in the Multi Cultural Center on Hoke 2nd floor.  Free

April 19, 7:30pm.  Martha Suarez Lopez will perform a Mexican Folkloric Dance presentation in the Hoke Main Lounge.  Free
