Summer Youth Theatre Camp -- CSAS01

June 19-30, 8:30am to 11:30am 

Ages 6-16 

Cost $100.00

This exciting two week program is designed for kids ages 8 to 16.  Summer Youth Theatre camps teach kids the basic acting and stage techniques through performance.  This two week camp will rehearse and perform a play especially designed for kids in this age group. 

Kids Violin Camp -- CSAS02

August 7-11, 8:30am to 12:30pm

Ages 6-12 with less than two years violin experience

Cost $150.00 

Register by July 1st and receive a 10% discount

Limited to 20 students

Join EOU Faculty member Lisa Robertson as she directs this camp for kids ages 6 to 12 with less than two years violin experience.  Students will learn the basic techniques of the instrument in a fun-filled learning environment.  Instruments are not provided but call our office if you need help locating one. 

WestCom HS Journalism Camp at EOU -- CSAS03

August 7-11, All Day

Open to Grades 9-12

Cost $300.00 for commuting students

Cost $450.00 for overnight students

Register by July 1st and Receive a 10% discount

Western Communications the publisher of The La Grande Observer is please to announce this new camp which is presented in conjunction with Eastern Oregon University.  This camp designed for High School students will focus on the basics needed to produce a newspaper including feature writing, sports writing, editing, layout, newspaper photography and printing.  The camp will produce a small newspaper that will be published in the La Grande Observer.  Employees from Western Communications, EOU Resource Faculty members and EOU undergraduate students will assist the campers through classes, lectures and work-shops.  Campers may commute or stay overnight in the EOU dorms.  Evening activities and entertainment will be provided for all campers.  Food services are available for commuting students at an additional cost.  Overnight guests need to bring a sleeping bag and pillow.

Western Communications, Inc. - also known as WesCom - is a family-owned corporation founded by renowned editor Robert W. Chandler. It owns nine publications in Oregon and California. The flagship publication is The Bulletin in Bend, Oregon. The other Oregon newspapers are The Observer in La Grande, the Baker City Herald, the Hermiston Herald, the Redmond Spokesman and the Curry Coastal Pilot in Brookings.

WesCom is a fast-growing company led by Elizabeth "Betsy" McCool, daughter of Robert Chandler, and Gordon Black, president of WesCom and publisher of The Bulletin. They have established the future direction of WesCom as a progressive publishing group.

Kids University -- CSAS04 (grades 2-3), CSAS05 (grades 4-5)

July 10 -- August 4th,  8:30am to 11:30am, Monday through Friday

Open to kids entering 2-5th grades

Cost $300.00

Register by July 1st and receive a 10% discount

Kids and parents both will love this exciting new program. The Kids University is a daily educational experience that will engage kids in a variety of topics in new and interesting ways. From creative writing to music basics each class will be designed with a fun theme that targets a specific age group.

Kids will be able to choose three classes from our list and attend these classes each Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 11:30am beginning July 10th and lasting until August 4th. Each class will be 50 minutes in length and students will be supervised as they walk between classes.

Classes will be taught by EOU students and community members under the direction of EOU faculty. We do offer multiple child discount and some scholarships.  Please call our office for details. Class offerings are subject to change based upon teacher availability.

Music Lessons-- CSAS09

Join us this summer for music lesson in piano, voice, flute or violin.  Students will receive 1/2 hour lessons and the times and dates are flexable.  Sign up for as many lessons as you want at $10.00 each.

Violin Class -- CSAS10

June 21st - August 2nd

3:00 to 3:50 PM, Wednesdays

$30.00

This class is designed for begining students to introduce them to the violin in a comfortable group setting.  Instruments are not provided.

Music Man Jr. -- CSAS06

July 5th -- August 26, 1:00 to 3:00pm, Monday through Thursday

Open to kids ages 6-14

Cost $100.00

This fun-filled classic takes a very large cast with over 25 speaking roles and a large chorus.  Everyone that auditions will receive a part. 

Auditions will be held June 24th, 9:00am to noon in McKenzie Theatre on the EOU Campus.  You do not need to have a prepared song.

Show Performance Dates:

      August 24, 25, 26

      Performances will be at 7:30 PM with a

      2:00 Early performance on the 26th.

The Fantasticks -- CSAS07

June 26th -- August 19, Evenings, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays

Open to High School and College are kids

This show features a medium size cast with 8 speaking roles and chorus.  We will be adapting the show to add more women's roles than are written into the current script.  

Auditions will be held June 24th 9:00am to noon in McKenzie Theatre on the EOU campus.  You do not need to prepare a song ahead of time. 

Show Performance Dates:

      August 11, 12, 18, 19

      All Performances at 7:30pm

Peril on the High Seas -- CSAS08

July 10 - September 9th, Evenings, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays

This show is open to actors/actresses over the age 14 but is designed primarily for an adult cast. 

Cost $100.00

This melodrama has a medium cast size with 15 speaking roles. There are a lot of women's roles in this play.   

Auditions will be held July 6th from 6:00 to 9:00pm in the Schwartz Theatre Theatre on the EOU campus. 

Show Performance Dates:

      September 7, 8, 9

      All Performances at 7:30pm with a 2:00 pm show on September 9th
