EASTERN OREGON UNIVERSITY
COMMENCEMENT INFORMATION
2012 Commencement Activities
Commencement is scheduled for Saturday – June 15, 2013 at 10:00am
Commencement should not be confused with “graduation.” Graduation refers to the actual fulfillment of degree requirements resulting in the conferral of a degree and a diploma. Commencement is a ceremony. It is a time for you to celebrate your accomplishments along with your family, your friends, and the EOU community.
Participation List: (to be displayed beginning March 2013)
PARTICIPATION
If you are a graduating senior and plan to participate in the Commencement Ceremony, please go to www.eou.edu/commencement/commencecard and complete the participation card. You must complete by Friday – May 10, 2013 as this will allow us to plan accordingly. If you do not have access to our website, you may call 541-962-3608 to have your name added to the participation list. You may participate in Commencement if you are graduating fall 2012, winter 2013, spring 2013, or summer 2013. If you are not eligible to participate in the ceremony, your name will not appear on the participation list or in the program.
REHEARSAL
Rehearsal for the Commencement Ceremony is scheduled on Friday – June 14 at 8:30 am. Please meet in the large gym in Quinn Coliseum. Participation is not mandatory, but it is very helpful to understand what the procedure will be for the actual ceremony on Saturday.
HONORS CORDS
Magna/Summa/Cum Laude honors cords may be purchased from the EOU Bookstore at the time you purchase your cap and gown. Honors (for the Commencement Ceremony and Program) will be determined based on your cumulative GPA (including transfer credits if applicable) through winter term. Shortly after grades are posted, the honors list will be available on the Registrar’s website. The EOU Bookstore will also have a list of eligible graduates.
NO TICKETS NECESSARY!
Your family and guests do not need tickets to attend the Commencement Ceremony. Seating at Community Stadium is on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have family or guests that require special accommodations, please contact Carolyn Bloyed at 541-962-3608 or cbloyed@eou.edu.
Please keep in mind that the ceremony is outdoors, so your family should bring an umbrella for rain or sun. It’s also a good idea to layer clothing or bring a blanket in case of inclement weather.
UPDATES ON WEBSITE
As we receive information on upcoming events, we will update the website. There will be a link from our homepage at www.eou.edu to the commencement website or you can go directly to the commencement homepage at www.eou.edu/commencement.
