The Read Oregon program is the collaborative effort of five universities in the Oregon University System (Eastern Oregon University, Oregon State University, Portland State University, Southern Oregon University, and Western Oregon University). The purpose of the program is to increase the availability of literacy courses to teachers in Oregon. Because Read Oregon accepts classes from five universities, the program offers a greater variety of courses and more schedule flexibility than a program offered by a single university. You can complete the program at your own speed; there are courses being offered every term. Read Oregon is an entirely online program.
The 24-quarter credit Read Oregon program, along with a passing score on the current state-approved content exam, will lead to a reading endorsement on the teaching license. EOU does not support alternative assessment in place of the content exam for licensure.
You will need to submit an application to Read Oregon if you have not done so already. If you are new to the program, we invite you to choose EOU as your home institution.
Once you have decided to take a course from EOU, please be certain that you familiarize yourself with EOU processes and technology use. For advising about Read Oregon or related to a Reading Endorsement, please contact Kristin Johnson at firstname.lastname@example.org or 541.962.3529.
