Master of Arts in Teaching
The MAT Program is a graduate teacher preparation program designed to help students obtain initial Oregon Licensure in either a primary/elementary or middle/high level authorization and to enable students to earn a Master of Arts in Teaching Degree.
The College of Education’s full-time, intensive teacher preparation program blends professional knowledge gained through experience in classroom settings with continuing academic preparation. In order to acquire a variety of experiences and to increase future job opportunities, our students normally participate in placements at two levels of authorization in public school classrooms. Students begin their placements at the beginning of the school year at assigned school sites in central and eastern Oregon and progress through a full-time apprenticeship.
For more information about the MAT Program and how to apply, contact Kristin Johnson, MAT Pre-Admissions Advisor, at email@example.com or 541.962.3529.
This program is available onsite at EOU in La Grande.
Eastern Oregon University’s teacher preparation programs are accredited through Oregon’s Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC).
