I came to Eastern Oregon University in 1991 after teaching high school and junior high physical science and chemistry for 12 years. During my first years at Eastern, I was a science teacher educator working in programs that provided professional development opportunities for elementary, middle and high school teachers. Science education was my dissertation topic and is still the focus of much of my research. Currently, I teach in the on-site CUESTE program located in Pendleton, as well as courses in the Masters of Science in Education program. I also continue to create programs and apply for grants for science education professional development opportunities for teachers. My experiences in an elementary program and continued study have developed my interests in literacy learning, elementary best practice teaching strategies, formative and summative assessment strategies, and fostering critical and creative thinking in our standards based world.
