Molecular Formula
The molecular formula indicates which elements are present in a molecular compound
and how many atoms of each element there are.
Examples
- Water, H2O, has two atoms of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen.
- Sulfuric acid, H2SO4, has two atoms of hydrogen, one sulfur atom and 4 oxygen atoms.
- Glucose, C6H12O6, has 6 carbon atoms, twelve hydrogen atoms, and 6 oxygen atoms.
