Recruiting A GREAT first meeting is a must! Acquaint: It would be nice if everyone in your group knew each other and better yet if they were able to get along and be friends. Opening the year with a  get to know each other activity, or icebreaker, will help. So start meeting with an icebreaker. Inform: During this portion of your meeting, you should cover the organization's history, purpose, and structure. Written records, organizational charts, officer descriptions, and membership lists should be discussed and given to everyone. If you do not have a written history, then the group can write one. Brainstorm about what members know concerning how the group was formed; when and where it was formed, what past members have achieved, the programs and/or services they offered, how the organization was structured, and now it has evolved over the years. Record the ideas somewhere visible to the entire group. Motivate: Your members need to be excited about the group. They need to mingle and to discuss their vision from the organization. Here is an activity designed just for this purpose.
