The Chinese Biographical Web Site consists of the following sections:
- Introduction - The
Introduction includes several sections, including: a general introduction, a database
definition; uses of the database project for research and teaching; the objectives of the
general project; an image map and components explanation, a unit on documentation and a
section for contributors and sponsors of the Chinese Biographical Database project.
- Searches - The Search
section can be used for specific or aggregate data questions. The Search Section includes
twenty-two searches that can be used. The general areas are: Biographical Information,
Birth Year, Career, and Origin Searches; Alternate Names, Education, Family, and Youth
Searches; Affiliations, Positions, and Historical Events Searches.
- Reports - The Report
section is based on the indivdual biographical figures. The Report section includes nine
forms: Biographical Information and Career Report; Sources Report; Alternate Names Report,
Education Report, Family Report, Youth Activities Report, Affiliations Report, Positions
Report, and Historical Events Report.
- New Biographies - The
New Biographies section is based on the idea that the project is a collaborative scholarly
endeavor. Web site users can make contributions of missing information, new figures, or
suggestions on new variables and fields.
- Feedback - The Feedback Form is to gather both evaluation and constructive suggestions from
visitors to the Web site.
- Help -
The Help Section includes some supplementary Web site guides and shortcuts. It includes:

- Wade-Giles to Pin Yin Guide
- Work in Progress
- Feedback Form
- Documentation
- Further Resources
Navigation and Links are provided throughout the site through navigation
bars. You only need to press the blue highlighed
text and you will go to that section.
