SERVICES ADMINISTRATION http://www.eou.edu/~thofhein/fire.html Faculty Advisors: Division of Distance Education The Fire Services Administration program is cooperatively offered by Western Oregon University and Eastern Oregon University. By agreement, EOU accepts WOU's Open Learning Fire Service courses and Western accepts EOU's Prior Learning credit as appropriate within the degree program. Prior learning credits count toward residency at EOU but Open Learning credits do not. The BA/BS degree requirements provide for an upper-division major built upon an associate degree in fire protection science or a professional-technical core curriculum in fire services available from most Oregon community colleges. Professional upper-division courses in the program are offered on Western's campus and in Portland at specific times. Please contact the Division of Distance Education Programs at Eastern Oregon University for further information. REQUIREMENTS FOR THE BA OR BS IN FIRE SERVICES ADMINISTRATION 1. All students, including those with an Associate Degree in Fire Science/Fire
Protection, will be required to complete the lower division fire technology
core curriculum from a community college as listed: Admission to the upper-division professional core is limited to persons who (1) have been awarded the Fire Fighter II certificate (or equivalent) by the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training, and (2) have completed required technical course work at the community college level. Determination of waivers and/or equival-encies of technical core classes are the responsibility of the DPSST (503) 378-2100 x240, in Salem, Oregon. 2. Upper-division professional core (21 hrs) a) Complete the following required courses with a grade of "C-" or better: Please note that effective Fall 2000, FSA 321 will become one of seven advanced Institute choices, and two new Institute topics, Inspection and Investigation, and Emergency Service Delivery will be added to the following list: FSA 311 Prin of Fire Protec Mgmt (3) b) Advanced Institute Capstone (3) (Choose one from six institutes available) 3. Upper division courses in the Social Sciences and/or Business (27 hrs) 4. Complete institutional graduation require-ments including: a) functional computer literacy (word processing and either spreadsheets or database management). b) for the BS degree, successfully com- plete (grade of "C-" or better) any Mathematics course above MATH 100 c) for the BA degree, demonstrate foreign language proficiency. Note: See additional institutional graduation requirements on page 27. 5. Grade point average: Minimum of 2.00 GPA in the 48 credit-hour major: and a minimum of 2.00 in all college work.
