Career Services
Mission Statement

Your Partnership with Career Services

Career Services is a campus resource available to all students regardless of class standing. The earlier students tune into the career development process the better they become about making decisions that will affect the ease in which they enter the job market.

How can parents be partners in this process?
  • Be knowledgeable about the process of career development.
  • Be aware that your experiences in choosing a career path may not be comparable to the current climate students face. Technology has dramatically impacted the ways in which work is done. Corporate restructuring and downsizing has shaken our confidence about job security. Today's college students need to adopt a plan of life-long learning in order to keep abreast of the skills and knowledge needed in today's workforce.
Resources for Parents:
  • Spend time on this web page to see what we say about finding a direction, choosing a major, engaging in an internship, preparing for a job search.
  • Start with a review of the IDEAL Approach to Career
    Development
. This is the foundation we use to describe the best way to approach career decision-making.
  • Read, "The Parent's Crash Course in Career Planning, Helping Your College Student Succeed".
    It is an excellent overview.
  • Go to JobWeb.com and click on "Career Library", "Articles" and then "Parents"

Please contact us if we can assist you with information or advice!
