Making the Most of the Job Fair

Preparation is the key. Since we have quite a distance to travel, commit to going and then get everything in order. For most of us - this is not a last minute decision.

•  Pre-register with Career Services and pay $5.00. Registration at the door is $10.

•  Submit a resume to Career Services before April 1 . All students submitting resumes by the deadline will receive constructive feedback prior to the fair. Let us help you make a positive first impression.

•  Pre-register and submit a resume by March 17 and Career Services will pick up your registration fee - a $5.00 savings!

•  You can register online at: http://www.olapcfirstavenue.org

Interviewing for full-time positions at the Jobs Fair:

The website will indicate whether an organization plans to interview on site. Not all recruiters interview. Historically about 1/3 do, but this also depends on the job market.

  1. Candidates seeking interviews will target employers of interest, enter the fair at 9:00 am and approach interviewing organizations early on. Conduct research about employers of interest prior to attending. Be able to articulate why your interests, skills and experience match their identified needs.
  2. You'll be given an interview schedule to fill out and return to fair organizers should you schedule interviews. This comes in handy when people misplace their appointment sheet and need a reminder.
