The Wave of The Future

Technology is quickly changing the way we view our world and interact with it. The job search tips and methods shared thus far have been tested over time and adopted, for the most part, as standard practice. It is important to note that new technologies already impact job search practices and opportunities. Consider these:

Internet

The information superhighway is full of resources for job seekers. If you have access to the Internet you can:

  • find job listings in an array of career fields
  • send your resume to companies and organizations
  • seek information about companies in which you are interested
  • conduct an entire job search without ever shaking the hand of an interviewer

The Career Services home page has numerous links to resources on the internet. These links are subject to change as needed and new links are added periodically. Stop by Career Services, Inlow 104, and we will be glad to give you a guided tour or you can access it from any computer hooked to the internet. Our home page is located at www.eou.edu/career.

Interviewing via video teleconferencing and video tape

Just as Eastern is able to offer courses and instruction over its teleproduction facilities, so goes the job search process. Potential employers might direct you to find the nearest computer complete with camera to be interviewed through this interactive medium. Some companies are also utilizing video tape and asking candidates to submit themselves on tape, responding to specific questions.
