Dr. Laurie Yates works on paper that was presented in London

Dr. Laurie Yates worked on an original research project with two professors at George Fox University, Dr. Craig Johnson and Dr. Paul Shelton.  It was presented at the annual conference of the International Leadership Association, October 27, 2011, in London, England. Dr. Craig Johnson represented the research team.  The title of the research project was "The Ethical Leader As Effective Leader: The Relationship Between Ethical Leadership and Organizational Trust, Satisfaction With Organizational Outcomes, and Perceived Organizational Effectiveness." The research will help advance both the theoretical model of ethical leadership and also its practical application. (The results will be published in a peer reviewed journal in February)

 

Dr. Laurie Yates presented at the Western Business Management International Conference

On January 8, 2012 Dr. Laurie Yates presented a paper at the Western Business Management International Conference in Honolulu, HI. The topic of the presentation was "Human resource management's role in organizational alignment: Achieving a sustainable competitive advantage."

Dr. Laurie Yates received a Doctor of Management from George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon. Her dissertation was titled, "Exploring the Relationship of Ethical Leadership with Job Satisfaction, Organizational Commitment, and Organizational Citizenship Behavior."

Professor Nancy Gromen completed her MBA degree this fall.  She is also a CPA. 

 

Dr. Ted Takamura is the current President of IACBE

Dr. Ted Takamura is the current President of IACBE Northwest Region.  They held a successful conference in Portland, Oregon this fall.  There were people from Alaska, Washington and Oregon in attendance.  After a year off due to lack of folks attending in 2010, the 2011 Fall Conference was held at the Red Lion On The River.  Previously it had been held at Marylhurst University in 2008 and 2009.

They have already scheduled next years conference to be held in the same location on October 18^th and 19^th.  They expect an increase of attendees in the upcoming year.

 

Dr. Steve Clements presents in Orlando, Florida

In November, Professor Steve Clements and his colleague, Dr Heidi Harris, presented at the 17th Annual Sloan Consortium International Conference on Online Learning in Orlando, Florida. The presentation titled, “Old Dogs” and New Media:  A Summer Institute Model for Online Faculty Development and Institutional Research" highlight their work coordinating and delivering the summer institute for EOU faculty last August. The institute introduced faculty to a wide variety of instructional technologies and allow participants to apply the technologies in their own courses.
