Blackboard Comprehensive Tutorial

The following Blackboard tutorial is designed to accompany specific EOU courses, and is not self-directed.  This tutorial has been created upon the request of instructors or administrators and you should not attempt to register yourself into a Blackboard course unless you have been directed to do so by one of your instructors.  If you have been directed to do so, you will need to know the course reference number (CRN) of your academic Blackboard course, which will also be the CRN of the Blackboard orientation module into which you will register yourself.

Instructions for orientation course self-enrollment

1. Access our Orientation server here and click on Create a New Account. Please be aware this is not our regular Blackboard server and you cannot use this to access any of your current courses.

2. Enter your first name, last name, your current EOU email address, your EOU Blackboard username, and a password in the appropriate fields. When you’re done, click the Submit button.

3. If you know the CRN of the course you need to enroll in, click on Browse Course Catalog. Otherwise, you will need to click on the Orientation folder and locate the correct course from a list.

4. Change the first search field to ID, the second one to Contains, and in the third field, enter the five-digit CRN of the course you need to enroll in, then click Go.

5. The course should show up below the search fields. Click the small chevron button next to the name of the Course ID, and then click Enroll.

6. Click Submit.

7. Click the little OK button at the bottom right of the next screen. This will complete the process and take you to the Orientation course.

8. The next time you log into the orientation server, the orientation course should appear in the my courses section of your Blackboard landing page.
