Critical Known Issues when using Blackboard

• If you get error messages or are unable to complete an exam in Blackboard and you are using Firefox, Safari or IE8 in "Compatibility Mode" then you probably will need to adjust your Java settings to resolve this problem. Follow these instructions to adjust your Java settings.
• The SAVE button in exams does not function correctly. See this note.
• The timer in your exam covers the submit button. This is ONLY a problem in Internet Explorer 8. For the solution, use Firefox or visit this page for instructions on creating a "Compatibility Mode" for IE8, which will prevent this problem.

Instructions on How to Log in to your Blackboard Course

• Your Blackboard Username is the part of your EOU email address before the @. For example, with an email address of student@eou.edu the Blackboard user name would be student.
• Your default password is your birthday in this form: YYMMDD with YY as the last two digits of your year of birth. For example, a birth date of May 12, 1982 would appear as:  820512. After accessing Blackboard, change this password to something private in the Personal Information TOOL link on the MY EOU BLACKBOARD page.
• If you have lost your password you can create a new one here. You will need to use your EOU email account to do this.
  

Your Account

If you are a registered student or instructor of record, you do not need to request an account; one has been created for you automatically. New student accounts in Blackboard are created approximately 2 weeks before the start of the term. Course "shells" will be automatically created for all courses listed in the Banner student information system. Students will be enrolled and dropped automatically in these courses, according to their enrollments in Banner.

Please see the Blackboard Policies link above, to the left, for more information. Courses are made available by the instructors. Not all courses will use Blackboard. Those that do will generally not be available until the first day of the term.
