Danny Miles Court is not an easy place to win for a visitor, but the Eastern Oregon University women's team changed that Friday evening winning, 56-50.
The number 17 Mountaineers handed Oregon Tech (16-7, 8-5 Cascade Collegiate Conference) their first home loss of the season.
Tech jumped to a quick 7-1 lead to start the game but a 16-6 EOU run would give the Mountaineers a 17-13 lead. Tech would tie the game at 18-18 with 9:10 remaining in the first half, but another EOU run of 15-7 would give Eastern a halftime lead of 33-25.
EOU's Elise Hawes would finish the night with a double-double with 14 points, all in the first half, and grabbed a game high 11 rebounds. Tiffanie Ulmer would finish with 12 points, while Sheena Henderson and Breana Olson both scored seven points for Eastern.
Cora McVey finished with a double-double effort with 14 points and 10 rebounds and Jenna Ball added 11 points.
The Southern Oregon University (20-3, 11-2) women cruised over The College of Idaho for their eighth straight win Friday evening, 84-63. The win sets-up a marquee match-up Saturday evening in Ashland between the conference's top two teams. In the first meeting on November 30, EOU edged SOU in La Grande, 80-78 in overtime.
