PORTLAND, Ore. - For Head Coach Kaki McLean it was as sweet a victory she has tasted in her short coaching career when her Mounties (9-6, 7-3 CCC) outlasted Concordia University (10-9, 6-4) CCC3-2 in a five game barn burner Saturday night.

McLean originally chose CU to play volleyball and attend college before transferring to Eastern where she be came a perennial all conference selection for the Mountaineers.  Now in her second year as head coach, her team has delivered her the biggest win in those two seasons.

After splitting the first four games (30-32, 30-19, 22-30, 30-19) the two teams needed overtime to decide a winner.  In that final frame Eastern prevailed 16-14, propelling EOU to a tied for 3rd place in the Cascade Conference and bumping the Cavaliers to 5th.

Grace Deboodt led the attack for the Mountaineers with 21 kills, while senior Chelsea Lally played great logging 13 kills and 34 digs.  Fellow senior Kiley Cobb 34 digs of her own.

Alissa Clinton and Chelsea Herron dished out 32 and 27 assists respectively.

The road sweep was crucial for Eastern because only four Cascade Conference teams will qualify for the regional tournament at the end of the season.  The Mounties currently sit in a tie for third thanks to this weekends efforts.

EOU travels to Walla Walla Tuesday for a non-conference tilt before hosting Warner Pacific and Cascade next weekend.
