LA GRANDE, Ore. - Game one seemed to be a run-away for the 'Yotes of the College of Idaho early, but a strong second half run closed the gap for the Montana Tech Ore Diggers. In the end, C of I would prevail 66-57.

College of Idaho led by 12 at the half, 39-27. Tech outscored the 'Yotes 41-39 in the second half. Dusan Veselinovic led all scorers with 22 points along with eight rebounds for the Ore Diggers.

Josh Owen led the College of Idaho with six assists and also had 15 points. Bryan Champ led the 'Yotes in scoring with 19 points. Three other players were in double figures for the C of I, Craig McGee with 16, Steffen Spinks with 14 and Kurt Nielson with 10 points.

In the second game, Eastern Oregon eased past Montana Western, 79-52. The game was close in the first half, with the Mountaineers leading at halftime by only eight points, . The Bulldogs had a 23-20 lead midway through the first half.

Mark Carollo led all scorers with 21 points. The Hermiston-native shot 9 of 12 from the field. The Mountaineers outscored Montana Western 44-21 in the second half.

Paul Carollo finished with a double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Neil Fryer finished with 14 points, shooting 50 percent from the field, making four of his eight shots.

Layne Glaus led the Bulldogs in scoring with 16 points. Aaron Sims grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds and scored six points.

 

Neil Fryer led all votes in the All-tournament team voting. Sims, Eastern's Jeremy Templeton, Veselinovic, and Champ rounded out the team.
