LA GRANDE, Ore. - Six different Eastern Oregon players scored in Monday’s scrimmage against Treasure Valley Community College. The Mountaineers got off to an early start and never looked back as they beat the Lady Chuckars 7-0.

The Mountaineers were led by senior Kristen Rice who had two of the team’s seven goals. The Lady Chukars were unable to penetrate Eastern Oregon’s defense and failed to get a shot on goal.
Eastern Oregon got on the scoreboard quickly when Rice followed up on a Courtney Gaskell shot that hit the crossbar in the 2nd minute of the game. The Mountaineers added some cushion to their lead when freshman newcomers Tennly Paul-Bowden, Ashley King, and Courtney Gaskell all scored within three minutes of each other. The first goal by Paul-Bowden came in the 23rd minute of the first period.
The Mountaineers came out of the break with a 4-0 lead and continued their domination. Kristen Rice, and juniors Lindsay Freeland and Jen Junk all scored in the second period against a banged up Lady Chukars team to make the final score 7-0.
Treasure Valley Community College goalkeeper Tera Holloway had a busy afternoon as the Mountaineers had nineteen shots on goal.
Head Coach Colleen Fagan was pleased with her team’s effort and the adjustments that they made after last weeks scrimmage against Walla Walla Community College. “A lot of good things happened today. We had good ball movement early on and that helped us get an early lead. Today was a great opportunity to practice moving the ball around late in the game.”
The Mountaineers face Albertson College and Northwest Nazarene University in the NNU Arthur D. Ortman Invitational this weekend in Nampa, Idaho. Game times are scheduled for 1:00pm MT on September 1 and 12:00pm MT on September 2.
