LA GRANDE, Ore. - On white out night in La Grande the number one seeded Eastern Oregon women get upset against eighth seeded Cascade College 67-66 in the quarterfinals match up of the Cascade Conference tournament.
After a back and forth first half EOU opened the second half on a bit of a run that saw their lead grow to 17 points at one point.
Cascade made a run of their own and took the lead for the first time with 2:15 left in the game. It was back and forth the rest of the way until the Thunderbirds Raguel Morin hit the game-winning three with six seconds left, to pull out the upset.
Both teams had big efforts from their post players. Cascade's Te Awhina Aranui had a game high 32 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the win.
Senior Sheena Henderson led the way with 21 points and pulled down nine boards as well.
With the win Cascade will now face Southern Oregon on Friday in Ashland at 7:30 pm. Eastern will have to play the waiting game until March 5 when the NAIA National Tournament pairings come out.
