La Grande, Ore - Kaki McLean has announced the signing of seven new recruits for the 2007 season. For McLean, the last year has been a busy one.
After former Head Coach Amy Spruiell left the Mounties, McLean agreed in June to serve as interim coach during the 2006 season. She managed to balance her on court coaching duties with a difficult nursing school schedule, while obviously making time to recruit.
In November the interim tag came off and now a full year after taking over the program McLean has her first full recruiting class as well as a degree in Nursing.
This class includes the following four freshman.
Haley McEnroe is a 5'11 freshman outside / middle hitter from Baker City. "She was second team all tournament team at the State tournament for Baker High. She has a lot of athletic ability and is a great addition to our program. If she can adjust to the speed of the game in college, she will make an impact right away." - Kaki McLean
Sonia Borders is a 5'7 freshman outside / middle hitter from Woodland, Washington. "Sonia is a very athletic kid. Having played volleyball and basketball as well as club volleyball she has put in her time to be successful. With a few adjustments, Sonia will be successful here and will make an impact. She is very hard working and her intensity will make our team better in the future." - Kaki McLean
Natassia Quintrell is a 5’7 freshman outside hitter from Woodland, Washington. "Natassia will bring to the team a great amount of ball control and composure. It is always great to have solid players like Natassia on our team. We are lucky to have her coming in next year and look forward to her success in the future." - Kaki McLean
Megan Callahan is a 5’ 6 freshman from Warren Oregon. "She will be red shirting her first year of competition but will add intensity, a hard work ethic and morale to the Mounties." - Kaki McLean
Coach McLean will add three experienced transfers with this class as well.
Sareena Simpson is a 5'1 junior libero from Treasure Valley Community College. "Sareena
will come in and make an impact right away in the back row for EOU. She is possibly one of the most sound and stable players that I have seen in a while as far as ball control. She brings intensity and attitude to the Mounties and we are very excited to have her next season." - Kaki McLean
Megan Weil is a 5’ 6 junior DS / libero from College of the Siskiyous. "Megan will also come in and make an impact right away. She was an all conference selection for COS, her hard work ethic and athletic ability will be a great asset to EOU." - Kaki McLean
Ashleigh Dailey is a 5'10 sophomore outside hitter from Northwest Nazarene. "Ashleigh is an athletic volleyball player with sound ball control skills that we would like to make an impact right away. Her height and strong hitting skills will improve not only our team but our program in the next three years as well." - Kaki McLean
