Boston, Mass - As the a member of the Eastern Oregon Track Team and mother of Chris, a sophomore member of the team, Carla Hoppie is more than just a non-traditional student.  When she traveled to Boston to compete in the 2007 USA Masters Indoor Track & Field Championships Carla proved she proved to be a non-traditional athlete.

Hoppie, competing unattached , won the Pentathlon with a point total of 3,708.  Along the way she was abel to win the 60 meter hurdles (11.20), 800 meter dash (2:42.69), high jump (1.33 meters) and shot put (10.11 meters), placing second in the long jump (3.90).  It is worth noting that Carla's marks would have won the European event as well.

This was the second time that Hoppie has competed in the Masters event.  In 1999 she placed 2nd in her age group.

Carla will get back to competing against student-athletes her son's age when she and her teammates travel to Ellensburg, Washington to compete in the Arlt Invite Saturday April 14th.
