Several Eastern athletes place well over the weekend at the University of Idaho's Vandal Indoor and McDonalds Open meets.
On Saturday at the McDonalds Open Eastern managed to get two event winners on the men's side. In the Mile Run Adam Goulet beat out a field of 53 runners running a 4:24.93.
Zach Heath won the 800 on Saturday with a time of 1:59.64, topping 24 other athletes in the event. Josh Cobb also finished well earning 7th in the event.
On the Women's side Kasie Gillespie finished 8th in the Long Jump (5.00 meters), 4th in the 60 Meter Hurdles (9.80) and 2nd in the High Jump (1.53 meters) at the McDonalds. Gillespie also finished 9th in the 800 (2:29.73). She also threw the shot 9.79 meters. Her marks in those five events have her ranked 5th in the nation in the pentathlon. The top 16 would qualify for nationals.
Marcella Bosch ran a time of 11:00.47 in the 3000 meter event Saturday earning 3rd place out of 10 runners.
If Kasie Gillespie's marks hold up she would travel to Johnson City Tennessee to compete in the NAIA National Indoor Championships March 8-10.
