OLATHE, Kan. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has released the Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete team for the 2007 season. The team was released in conjunction with the 2007 NAIA Softball National Championship Tournament, which is taking place in
Decaur, Ala., at the Wilson Morgan Softball Complex.
Eastern Oregon University's own Kelly West was named to that team based on her strong performance in the classroom.
West, a Pitcher from Lewiston, Idaho appeared in 21 contests this season with an ERA of 4.18. The junior collected six wins and logged one complete game.
In the classroom Kelly has shined as a Psychology major with a Grade Point Average of 3.82.
When asked how she felt about West's accomplishments Head Coach Missy Wheeler said, "The fact that she was recognized for her contributions to the Softball program off the field is exciting because it just adds to all of the things she does for us on the field. As a player, a captain and a student, she is great."
