La Grande, Ore - Senior Catcher Meghan Henderson and junior Pitcher Melodee Mildenberger have recieved All-NAIA Region I Honors to go along with their All-Conference Awards.
Henderson, a graduate of La Grande High School, hit 378 with a slugging percentage of .598. She led the Mounties in Hits and was second in Runs Scored. She was also a member of the All-Region I team in 2006.
Mildenberger, a transfer from North Idaho, went 6-5 with an ERA of 2.43, while batting .389 with 4 doubles and a homerun.
When asked how she felt about her starting battery Head Coach Missy Wheeler responded by saying, "It is great that the region recognized the talent these two have. Meghan has been a solid force behind the plate and a go to hitter in our line up. She is a player that will be difficult to replace next season."
"Melodee has been a great addition to our program. Not only has she been solid for us on the mound but she has been able to make a major impact in our batting order. We are lucky to have her back for another year and I expect great things from her next season."
The Mounties will return a total of 14 players from the 2007 roster that finished 19-24, losing a number of very close games throughout the season and especially down the stretch.
With so many players returning and a new field on campus approaching completion, EOU should have plenty to look forward to in 2008.
